Fibre Fear Factor Removed

Nimans has been hosting a special open day to remove any fears around the ‘dark art’ of fusion and fibre splicing – opening up the market to more installers by broadening their skill sets.
The event at the company’s Trafford Park Trade Counter was hosted in partnership with Tempo Communications (formerly Greelee Communications) and is being hailed a resounding success.
Nicholas Coyle, Regional Sales Manager at Tempo was joined by Technical Support colleague Phillip Carter who provided demonstrations throughout the day to help demystify the art of splicing.
“We wanted to show it’s not so scary especially for installers more used to copper rather than fibre installations,” Nicholas explained. “We are trying to allow engineers the possibility of branching out, especially electrical and telecoms contractors, in addition to classic copper work. It’s possibly been seen as a dark art before and quite technical. But we’ve allowed people to come in, get their hands on it, have a go and understand it’s something they could do and develop their businesses. It was a very busy day and everyone seemed very pleasantly surprised at how easy it was.”
He added: “Fibre is a more stable medium and matches the demands of customers. If the skills are not available within a business then they have to be outsourced which involves, time, cost and inconvenience. We want to help Nimans’ customers future proof their operations.”
Trade Counter Manager Geoff Wilde said the day was another example of how Nimans continues to support and educate its customer base in an ever-evolving communications world.
