Realising the opportunity of the 2025 Switch Off

22 March 2024

On March 14th we welcomed a number of resellers to the BT Tower to kick off the start of our ongoing 2025 Switch Off campaign. A wonderful location which has recently been in the news following the announcement that the tower will be becoming a hotel following its sale.

Along with key partner vendors – Audiocodes, DrayTek, EE, Mitel, NEC and Zen – the aim was to give a realistic portrayal of what the market is looking like and how the Switch Off is impacting businesses and the effects our suppliers are seeing on the direction of their key solutions. After morning presentations from our vendors, customers were able to enjoy lunch at the top of the Tower with magnificent views. After lunch resellers made the most of our exhibition area for networking with our vendors.

What has become clear over the past few months is that the switch off isn’t straightforward for all. We spoke about general awareness in our base following a recent reseller survey. Only 46% stated that they were fully aware of the switch off and its implications, but reassuringly 81% of these resellers are communicating about the switch off with their customers and have started to migrate. More and more we are hearing about the number of services – lift lines, alarm and care lines, door entry etc, which are not a straightforward fix and other challenges such as customer apathy, fibre availability and number porting concerns have also come to light.

The event was the starting point of our wider campaign (that will be running throughout 2024). We demonstrated that Nimans, along with our vendors, can cover all aspects of the switch off with connectivity (from the ground up) to hybrid and cloud applications, 5G mobile solutions, hardware and routers that offer fast deployment for every solution, transitioning customers to UCaaS (e.g. Direct Routing and Operator Connect) and the use of gateways with existing assets. On top of this there are of course the additional opportunities to maximise margin with other add ons.

The support Nimans Connect can offer within our wider 2025 Switch off campaign starts with ‘data washing’ where we can quickly check your customers’ fibre availability by address, to aid with prioritising customers ready for upgrade to SoGEA and FTTP. We have material to support with customer audits as well as white label collateral to help with getting the vital messaging out. Any resellers who are selling any 2025 ready solutions with recurring billing, who need billing support, we also offer a bureau billing service.

Look out for further details of our second 2025 Switch Off event being held in the summer. In the meantime, feel free to book a one-to-one consultation with us to talk about your customer base where you may need support with migrations, options where you need an alternative to fibre to meet customer needs and also to look at wider opportunities for upgrades and additional solutions.
