Reasons to act now
- Time is running out - copper and legacy services will switch off in January 2027, leaving customers without service. PSTN will revert to a basic temporary emergency service to ensure access to 999 for vulnerable customers. ISDN and ADSL will be switched off.
- Openreach are implementing three WLR price increases in 2026. This will equate to a 100% increase of November '25 prices by October '26.
- Don't let your competition upgrade your customers. Audit your customers' services and plan their migrations now before someone else does.
- Don't let the switch off become an emergency project. Later in the year engineer resource will be impacted, meaning delays and legacy services with faults will not be a priority.
Beat the Openreach price increases
An example of premium PSTN rental increases in 2026:
| Price before change | % increase | New price |
| £14.32 | 20% increase April '26 | £17.18 |
| £17.18 | 60% increase July '26 | £27.49 |
| £27.49 | 20% increase October '26 | £32.99 |
The above costs relate to the line rental only without any call charges, network call features or broadband connectivity.
In October:
PSTN + 80/20 FTTC broadband = £59
Not including calls, network call features and fault call out charges.
Switch now:
80/20 SoGEA + UC licence + call bundle = £28

Important considerations
- When migrating and upgrading any lines that are being used for voice - you need to let us know which CLIs are to be retained. Where we have not been notified, these numbers will be lost during the migration process.
- Vulnerable customers (i.e. those with care lines) must be identified so any changes to their service are implemented without any loss of service. Also connections such as lift lines, fire and security alarms, CCTV, door entry etc need to be assessed for the best option.
- The default solution for lines to be be migrated to is SoGEA. If FTTP is available, connections will be converted to FTTP as SoGEA will not available at FTTP enabled exchanges.
